Ernest Bihm

Program Manager, Educational Opportunities Project

Ernest Bihm is the program manager on the Educational Opportunities Project where he strives to ensure Black students and other historically marginalized students of color have access to meaningful and equitable opportunities in k-12 and higher education across a portfolio of projects and initiatives that advance racial equity. He also supports impact litigation efforts, engages in policy advocacy, and leads a multi-organizational civil rights fellowship program. Previously, Ernest managed a virtual legal clinic and a national network of pro-bono attorneys as part of the Parental Readiness and Empowerment Program which provided parents and caregivers access to legal resources and critical knowledge to navigate federal and state education laws to protect the rights of their students.

Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee, Ernest worked at the intersection of research, policy and community engagement in America’s Promise Alliance where as senior director of knowledge management, he helped coordinate a longitudinal research study to explore the ways that comprehensive community initiatives were mobilizing to improve youth outcomes across school, family, and neighborhood contexts. He also collaborated with community leaders across the country to create greater awareness and action to increase high school graduation rates. He also directed the Youth Workforce Fund which invested in organizations that provided young people with opportunities to engage in the work of the future from environmental sustainability to robotics, culinary arts and coding.

Ernest, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, is a graduate of Tufts University and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
