Brad Berry’s responsibilities as Vice President, Legal Partnerships, include developing and implementing strategies to inform, energize and mobilize the private bar in support of the Lawyers’ Committee’s mission to advance racial justice throughout the nation. In his more than three decades of broad-ranging legal experience, Brad has served in executive leadership positions in the not-for-profit sector and government agencies and offices, in addition to stints in private practice. Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee in September 2020, he served as General Counsel and Secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) where he advised the organization’s boards of directors, executive leadership team and approximately 2000 state and local units across the country regarding the full range of governance, policy, strategic, legal, operational, and advocacy issues affecting the organization. Brad has also previously served as Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, Deputy General Counsel for Litigation at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Deputy Chief of the Enforcement Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, and Special Assistant to the Mayor of the District of Columbia. His private practice experience includes partnerships at several prestigious Washington, D.C. law firms. Brad is a graduate of Yale Law School and The George Washington University. Following law school, he was privileged to serve as a law clerk to the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati.
