On Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 Kris Kobach, Vice-Chair of the Presidential Election Integrity Commission responded to Kristen Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee after Clarke announced that the Lawyers’ Committee’s Election Protection hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) would serve as a direct response to the Commission. Taking calls from voters from around the country who have experienced voter suppression as result of the Commission.
After Clarke expressed “grave concerns that the commission’s activities will stoke fear in communities and encourage officials to undertake action that may suppress the rights of minority voters,” Kobach called the accusations “complete and utter nonsense.”
