On December 3, 2015, Lawyers’ Committee staff volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) in Washington, D.C. The Capital Area Food Bank partners with 469 community-based organizations in the District of Columbia, its Maryland suburbs, and Northern Virginia, and delivers food directly into hard to reach areas, helping about 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food. Lawyers’ Committee staff teamed up with other volunteers at the CAFB warehouse to sort 29,000 pounds of food, or the equivalent of over 13,000 meals for families in the metro area.
