On August 10th 2017, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law sent a request to the Department of Justice under the Freedom of Information Act to produce all records and document relating to communications between any DOJ employee and a number of individuals and entities associated with efforts to back voter suppressive legislation and procedures. The FOIA request covers documents of any kind relating to all communications between DOJ employees since January 20, 2017 and members of the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity, including Kris Kobach, Hans von Spakovsky, J. Christian Adams and Kenneth Blackwell, in addition to organizations such as the Public Interest Law Foundation, the American Civil Rights Union, and Judicial Watch.
