What is this Privacy Policy?
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to achieving racial justice and ensuring that Black people and other people of color have the voice, opportunity, and power to make the promises of our democracy real.
The Lawyers’ Committee is committed to preserving and protecting your privacy and the privacy of all visitors to our websites. This policy is intended to set forth the Lawyers’ Committee websites’ current policies and procedures with respect to the Personal Information of all visitors to the site. Your continued use of the site indicates your acceptance of this privacy policy and of the collection, use, disclosure, management, and storage of your Personal Information as described below.

This privacy policy applies to the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and all of its owned websites (lawyerscommittee.org, prepparents.org, 866ourvote.org, 8449nohate.org, thefuturewedeserve.org), hereafter referred to as “The Site” or “Site”.

The Site does not collect any personal information during the normal course of browsing. The Site will only collect personal information from you in the following instances:
- when you submit a donation via our Donate page
- when you sign up for an event hosted by the Lawyers’ Committee and posted on our website

While we do contract with a third-party vendor for the purpose of donation collection as defined later in the policy, we will use this information only for the purposes of why they were submitted, and we will never sell, share, or rent any of your information to a third-party for the use of advertising or in any other way not described in this policy.
Why We Use This Information
This information is used to provide you with the services you requested (submitting a donation, signing up for an event or newsletter, applying or a job) or to respond to inquiries and requests.

During normal browsing, the Site may collect non-personal information that does not allow for identification of the site’s visitors. This type of information includes the following:
- User behavior: pages visited, time spent on each page, bounce rates, and navigation paths

Third-Party Vendors
The Lawyers’ Committee uses third-party vendors for various services. For instance, we partner with Blackbaud for the collection of donations on our Donate page, along with our newsletter registration. Your full name, address, email, and phone number will be stored on Blackbaud’s servers and not the Lawyers’ Committee site. We never store credit card information. After donation processing, all credit card information is destroyed. Additionally, access to the donor database is strictly restricted to Lawyers’ Committee employees with the necessary job duties and is not accessible by anybody else, including the vendor.
None of your personal information is ever accessible by these third-party vendors and are only accessed by Lawyers’ Committee employees who have a necessary job requirement to access the data.
Personal Information Options and Your Rights
The Lawyers’ Committee is committed to taking your rights seriously. If you would like to find out if we have any personal information about you, you may email a request to info@lawyerscommittee.org. If we have any personal information on you, we will provide you with an easily readable document listing all personal information we have at no charge to you.
If you would like to make a correction of any personal information that we have about you, please send an email to info@lawyerscommittee.org. Be sure to include your full name in the request, along with any other information you need amended.
If you would like to request that your personal information is deleted, please send an email to info@lawyerscommittee.org. Make sure you include your full name in the request and any other information necessary so that we can be sure we remove the correct person’s information.
Disclosure of Information
The Lawyers’ Committee will never sell, share, or rent any personal information to any third-party for the purposes of advertising or marketing. We may provide third-party vendors with non-personal information for the purposes of improving our website for accessibility and usability.
We may disclose personal information without the person’s consent if we are required to do so by law, in the course of law enforcement investigations including law enforcement or court orders, or by state regulators.
Personal information may be disclosed to third-parties in the case that the Lawyers’ Committee is dissolved as an entity, or purchased by a third-party.

The Lawyers’ Committee has put in place administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect all data under our supervision. We use industry-standard encryption on all of our data, including both data at rest and data in transit between our website and the databases hosted on third-party vendors.
