- May 24, 2011 New Collaborative Will Help New Orleans Homeowners Clear Title and Rebuild Five years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, thousands of low-income homeowners in New Orleans continue to face hardships and have not been able to return to their homes, often because they do not have clear title to their property. In order to address this issue, the Community Development Project (CDP) of the Lawyers’ Committee has launched the New Orleans Title Clearing Collaborative, a new program developed with local partners Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, The Pro Bono Project, and Louisiana Appleseed, with the aim of helping New Orleans homeowners clear title and rebuild at last.
