Kim
M. Keenan honored on May 16 as Women Lawyer of the Year
by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia
during 90th Annual WBA/WBAF Awards Dinner.
On Wednesday, May 16, the Women's Bar Association of
the District of Columbia during the 90th Annual WBA/WBAF
Awards Dinner presented its Women Lawyer of the Year
Award to Kim M. Keenan. The Women Lawyer of the Year
Award recognizes a woman for her exceptional achievements
in the legal profession and/or for her extraordinary
contributions to the advancement of women in the profession.
Kim Keenan is an active Board member of the Lawyers'
Committee for Civil Rights Under Law where she serves
as a Regional Vice Chair of the Chesapeake Region, Chair
of the Office Space Committee, and on the Strategic
Planning Committee. Ms. Keenan is a Senior Trial Attorney
with the law firm of Jack H. Olender & Associates
where she handles medical malpractice and personal injury
cases. Among her many notable accomplishments, Ms. Keenan
is a Past President of the National Bar Association,
the oldest and largest bar association of lawyers of
color, and a Past President of the Washington Bar Association,
an affiliate of the National Bar Association. She has
also served as Treasurer of the Bar Association of the
District of Columbia - the first African-American women
to serve in that position. Ms. Keenan has also served
on the Board of Governor of the DC Bar and the Trial
Lawyers Association of DC. In recognition of her outstanding
achievements, Ms. Keenan was recently listed among the
top 50 women in the 2007 edition of the Washington,
DC Super Lawyers.
