Gift Planning Officer - Annual Fund Drive
(Six Month Position)
The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights is a national, non-partisan, non-profit organization. Founded in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy, the Lawyers’ Committee marshals the resources of the legal community to address our nation’s pressing civil rights needs - improving educational opportunities for young people, promoting fairness in the workplace, fostering fair housing and economic opportunities, improving the environmental health of contaminated communities, and fostering full participation of all citizens in our nation’s democratic institutions.
Job Description: The Gift Planning Officer-Annual Fund Drive reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and will assist the Development Unit in implementing all facets of a diversified annual giving program including, but not limited to, scheduling personal solicitations, on-line donations, direct mail, stock gifts, and matching gifts. The primary focus of this six month position is to capture the momentum of the Lawyers’ Committee’s 45th Anniversary to increase the annual unrestricted support from Board members and other friends.
Specific duties include the following:
- Work with the Chief Development Officer to design and implement a comprehensive Annual Fund Drive plan that encourages individuals, including members of the Board, attorneys, friends, and staff to establish a pattern of increased unrestricted giving.
- Launch the 2008 "Early Bird" Board Campaign with the assistance of the Regional Vice Chairs.
- Design and implement "friends" clubs of associates, Mississippi volunteers, and others to encourage increased annual support from non-Board members.
- Assist in preparing all annual giving solicitation and recognition materials, using in-house and outside vendor resources to spotlight individual donors.
- Track, analyze and report on annual fund drive support from all sources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
Preferred Candidate Qualifications
The Gift Planning Officer-Annual Gift Fund should possess: a baccalaureate degree, five+ years experience in managing annual giving or similar programs, excellent organizational and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, well-developed quantitative and information management skills, extremely professional appearance and demeanor, and affinity with the overall mission of the Lawyer's Committee for Civil Rights. Experience in utilizing moves management in Raiser’s Edge preferred.
