Nicole Birch
Nicole joined the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in Washington, D.C. as a Skadden Fellow. Her work focuses on fair housing. Prior to working at the Lawyers’ Committee, Nicole clerked for the Honorable Myron Thompson of U.S. District Court in Montgomery, AL. She has a long record working for civil rights and equal justice.
Before law school, she was a paralegal in the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, where she received the Attorney General's Special Achievement Award. While at HLS, Nicole worked with the Lawyers' Committee in Boston, the Criminal Justice Institute, and the Hale & Dorr Legal Services Center. During her 1L summer, she did international human rights work in South Africa. She spent the following summer at Relman and Associates, a small firm that does civil rights work, and O'Melveny and Myers.
At HLS, Nicole was an Editor of the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review, Executive Board Member of the Black Law Students Association, a Steering Committee Member of the Gary Bellow Public Service Award Committee, and a Co-Founder of the Multiracial Law Students Association.
Nicole is a Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of Brown University.
