Tamar Cloyd
Grants Officer
Tamar Cloyd, grants officer for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law since March 2008, is responsible for working with project staff to craft discrete plans for prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of both restricted and unrestricted public and private foundation grants. Prior to joining the Lawyers’ Committee, she served as development specialist for Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and was a grant writing consultant for DC VOICE.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Cloyd received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Community Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She is a proud mother of two sons and lives in Maryland.
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (LCCRUL), a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, was formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy to involve the private bar in providing legal services to address racial discrimination. The principal mission of the Lawyers’ Committee is to secure, through the rule of law, equal justice under law, particularly in the areas of housing, community development, employment, voting, education and environmental justice.
